IGOUMENITSA Port of Igoumenitsa The port of Igoumenitsa is geographically the closest port of Greece to Italy and the Balkan countries of the Adriatic Sea, thus being a major bridge of people and goods to and from Western Europe. The New Port of Igoumenitsa, which was inaugurated in 2003 and continuously upgraded, is designed to serve a variety of different port services. The port Au- thority’s priorities are to attract cruise ships to the region of Epirus and to make Igoumenitsa an important cruise port in the Mediterranean region. In this context, we reorganize our port in order to better serve cruise passengers, separating our passenger and commercial activities. Our philosophy is based on flexibility and our willingness is to adapt to each cruise passenger separately. We believe that the competitive advantages, which made us one of the first class European Ports, will apply to cruise sector. The port has a pier for cruise ships up to 420m long and 10,50m draft. The port operates an integrated security system based on an approved “Port Facil- ity Security Plan” that complies with all ISPS security code terms.
